Since January 2016 nearly 350,000 migrants have attempted crossing the Mediterranean sea, and according to the United Nations, over 4,600 people have drowned in their attempt. Global Disaster Immediate Response Team (Global DIRT), through it's Africa/Europe/Middle East Regional Office, ​has deployed two rotations of rescue​ ​teams to utilize rigid hull inflatable boats aboard the LifeBoat Minden to assist those in distress and coordinate with the United Nations, other Non-Governmental Organizations, and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center - Rome.

Earthquake Response: Nepal

On April 25th, 2015 a 7.9 Earthquake struck the country of Nepal killing over 3,500 people and leaving over 8 million people displaced and in immediate need of medical, food, and shelter support.

Typhoon Response: Philippines

On November 3rd Super Typhoon Haiyan formed in the Pacific Ocean, the width of the entire US east coast, with the fastest wind speed ever recorded. As the storm approached Global Disaster Immediate Response Team (DIRT) prepared to respond to the Philippines with all available assets and stood up an assessment and communications team arriving immediately after flights resumed.

Hurricane Sandy Relief - NY

Global Disaster Immediate Response Team (DIRT) has deployed an assessment team to New York in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, with efforts focused on the Rockaway Beach region. After several days on the ground, Global DIRT is preparing to launch I.T. and coordination teams to assist in food distribution, ground communications, and emergency information management.

Fundraiser Night at the Portsmouth, NH Flatbread

Tonight, from 5pm until close, the Portsmouth, NH Flatbread Company will be hosting a benefit night for Global DIRT. We will have team members there to talk to people joining us for the event as well as a photo slide-show of some of our work.
