About

Global DIRT (Disaster Immediate Response Team) was founded in January 2010 by Adam Marlatt shortly after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Adam and fellow Marine Robert Sullivan both responded to the disaster within its first week and have been on the ground ever since. Using their experiences as members of the United States Marine Corps, they have constructed a small, all-volunteer force dedicated to providing immediate assistance to victims of disasters all around the globe.

In a sea of NGOs trying to make a difference in these desperate times, DIRT stands out in the crowd. It acts as an intermediary between larger organizations, hospitals, military, and the victims. Its main objective is to put the best interest of the victims first. DIRT's small size and dedicated volunteers operate when other organizations will not and provide immediate assistance that many organizations can not. Global DIRT is small but dedicated and making a huge impact in disaster zones.

The Global DIRT team is currently dedicating its services to Haiti where it has earned a reputation as a go-to NGO for assistance in transportation and logistics. DIRT has provided water, food and medical supplies in areas that have not always been reached by larger organizations. The team specializes in emergency patient transfers and works diligently to improve communication between local hospitals and clinics.

Global DIRT's goal for future situations is to be the first responder on the ground after a disaster. It plans to use its experiences in Haiti to provide fast, efficient and accurate information to responding groups in order to organize and expedite the recovery and rebuilding process. Plans are currently underway to provide mass logistical and technical support to cooperating NGO's, government entities, hospitals, clinics and media outlets in future areas of need. Global DIRT's quick response and technical systems and tools give the group the unique ability to provide aid to victims as well as other NGO's. DIRT's proposed command center would be able to track registered response groups, provide daily detailed updates to both volunteers and the media, facilitate inter-organizational communication as well as be the hub of technical and logistical support systems.

GLOBAL DISASTER IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TEAM is approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (C)(3) tax-exempt organization, and all donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. Global DIRT's Federal Identification Number (EIN) is 27-2365634. 100% of all donations go directly towards supporting the team and helping to make a difference in the lives of disaster victims everywhere.
